Diwali

Click For Info ErrorDiwali is one of the biggest festival of Hindus, celebrated with great enthusiasm and happiness in India. The festival is celebrated for five continuous days, where the third day is celebrated as the main Diwali festival or 'Festival of lights'. Different colorful varieties of fireworks are always associated with this festival. On this auspicious day, people light up diyas and candles all around their house. They perform Laxmi Puja in the evening and seek divine blessings of Goddess of Wealth. The festival od Diwali is never complete without exchange of gifts. People present diwali gifts to all near and dear ones.

Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights, is the most popular of all the festivals from South Asia. It is also an occasion for celebration by Jains and Sikhs.

The festival of Diwali extends over five days. Because of the lights, fireworks and sweets involved, it's a great favourite with children.



Diwali and Annakut 2020 10 November 2020

This year we will celebrate Diwali in our own homes. We wish you all a very enjoyable Diwali and a Very Happy NewYear (VS 2077).


Due to lockdown there will be no events on Diwali day in the Mandir. We are also curtailing the Annakut program. On Annakut day, Sunday 15th November.


The Mandir will be open from 11:00am to 1:00pm, and 6:30pm to 8:00pm for individual prayers/darshan. You can bring an item of prasad or a small thaal, and offering it from a distance as you do your darshan and take the thaal back with you. No one should leave their thaal/prasad in the Mandir. The Management Committee will ensure that a thaal is offered in the Mandir on Annakut day.


When you come for darshan on Annakut day please follow all the COVID19 rules:

  • Wear a face mask/covering at all time in the Mandir.
  • Sanitise your hand on entering and leaving the Mandir.
  • Do not mingle or socialise with any other worshippers to offer New Year's greetings anywhere in the Mandir premises.
  • Do not take you face mask/covering to take photos, and strictly no group photos.
  • Maintain your distance, do your darshan quietly and leave.

  • If everyone follows the rules, we will be able to keep the Mandir open during the lockdown.


    Mandir Opening Hours from Monday, 16th will be:

  • Morning 8:30am to 9:30am
  • Evening 6:45pm to 8:00pm

  • Why not come in for a guided tour to look around the Temple and learn about many Hindu Gods/Deities? The Panditji (our priest) will be glad to show you around during the opening hours. Students are very welcome. The temple is open for school visits on weekdays between by prior appointment.
